These locations will help you reconnect with yourself

Travelling alone can be one of the most exciting, liberating and eye-opening experiences you’ll have in life. It’s all about taking time for yourself, and not feeling a type of way doing so. You can see a city or town at your own pace, and plan your days with your desires in mind.

But travelling alone isn’t all sunshine and rainbows. It can be really scary to pack your bags and head off on a new adventure without loved ones. If I’m being honest, the thought of travelling alone terrifies me. I have this irrational fear that everyone is looking at me, judging me. And as a woman, I wonder whether I’ll be safe travelling on my own.

I realised that most of my fears are irrational and based on ignorance. I’ve leaned into enjoying my own company, and found ways to make myself feel safe. That’s when I warmed up to the idea of travelling by myself, and allowed myself to recognize how it shows me what I’m truly capable of.

If I can do it, so can you! Read on for 7 places perfect for a solo traveller in Kenya.

*Please note that prices may vary

Medina Palms - Watamu

If you’re not sure what you want to do, leave it to the staff to help you build out the perfect itinerary.

Lake Naivasha Sopa Lodge - Naivasha

Are you an animal lover on a budget? Lake Naivasha Sopa Lodge is right by the lake and giraffes, hippos, waterbucks and monkeys roam all over the lodge. You can see them in their habit too, on a nature trail or boat.

The Cottage Guest House - Gigiri

You don’t have to leave Nairobi to have a fabulous solo vacay. Save some coins and stay at The Cottage Guest House in Gigiri. You’ll feel right at home, but have the perks of a full service hotel.
